Sarabi stood still as she was circled and her breathing slowed substantially. Her tail stopped its movements as she waited for Spike's next move. When he laid down, she realized this was a sort of mating ritual. She inclined her head toward him, showing acceptance and a sort of passive submissiveness. She purred loudly.

When she looked towards him, he rose to his feet and threw his head at her giving a loud chirping sound. Purring then, he walked up to her and nuzzled her side letting his head run up her side to her head. His tail followed against the shape of her body and wrapped itself around her own tail though in a lose intertwinement. He chirped again, but quieter than the last, and rubbed his head against hers again, breathing deeply. He sat down then still right up next to her and licked her neck and side grooming her softly until she decided whether she wanted to really mate or not. He wasn’t trying to pressure her but was warming up to her in his own way.

Sarabi rubbed her head under Spike's neck and purred, louder this time. Her tail tightened in his and her legs fell out from under her, stretching out across the sand. She opened her mouth, showing a kind of yawn that had nothing to do with being tired. She turned to look at the male, and her eyes were clouded over in a haze of passion.

Spike smiled and licked her head silently. He stood and straddled over her back as she lay against the sandy dirt. His purr growing louder he entered her quickly and spread his seeds, licking the back of her neck the whole time. He opened his mouth and took the scruff of her neck in it gently and forced himself into her a little further. Just making sure his seeds were welcomed into her body he stayed, straddling her, licking her back and rubbing his head along her short fur.

Sarabi relaxed her body against the intrusion, forcing her body to stay still. This was a welcome breeding---not like the forcing that had been done to her as a cub. She purred as Spike finished and she rose to her paws, shaky as a kit. She turned to face him, her tail flicking through the air behind her as she wondered if she would feel the kicking of tiny paws soon. She licked his face. This male---Spike---she hardly knew him, yet he had just bred with her. It seemed unreal now, but she just licked his face again and smiled for the first time in months.

Spike smiled again returned the happy feeling and he nuzzled against her. He hadn’t expected to find someone and bred this soon and he blinked his eyes thinking about it. He grinned though as he was happy anyway and hoped this female would welcome him into her life fully and that they could be a happy family. He flicked his tail behind him and purred into her ears. Looking around the desert, he stretched his legs and chirped a little again. Pawing at the ground, he walked to lie under the tree and waited to see if maybe, just maybe, she would join him.

Sarabi waited a second before following him. She knew that if any other males were walking around, they would smell Spike on her and leave her alone. The thought scared and relieved her at the same time. Spike couldn't leave now---he just couldn't. She folded herself down gracefully in his space, leaning against him. His fur warmed her and she was soon burning, wishing for an air to blow through. She panted much like the hyenas that sometimes roamed, but the cool air felt good.

Spike grinned as she came towards him and gracefully laid herself against him. He took a deep breath, being caught in between the tree and Sarabi. Her smell was strong and sweet and he made sure to keep a lookout for other males roaming around that may have caught a good whiff of her scent. He also parted his mouth to pant lightly as the sun beat down heavily on them. The tree offered some shade but it was still hot. He thought now about what was going to happen between the two of them and especially now if she had cubs. He relaxed a little and stretched out of the sandy ground, laying his head on his paws.
